Wisconsin in white

If you’re down on State Street any time this October, please stop in at Fair Trade Coffeehouse to see my latest exhibit, “Wisconsin in White: A Celebration of Winter.”  A reception is scheduled for Friday, October 5, 2012 from 6 – 8 PM.  Come on down for a preview of winter.

The sky is an intense shade of blue.
The crisp air is almost brittle.
Footsteps are soft and muffled.
A breeze whisks flakes of white into the air.
Your senses seem to be magnified.

If you want to truly enjoy life in Wisconsin you must learn to embrace the winter.  That means learning to love the snow.

Children love to laugh and run in the snow.  It seems like a gift from nature.  But time has a way of chipping away at the joys of youth.  Soon we may feel, as Poet Maya Angelou said,

“Nature has no mercy at all. Nature says, ‘I’m going to snow. If you have on a bikini and no snowshoes, that’s tough. I am going to snow anyway.’”

So, what’s the trick to enjoying the snow?  Simple.  Don’t go out in a bikini.

Below you will find more wonderful wintery white Wisconsin images from this exhibit.
