If you’re looking to get a sense of the antebellum South, Charleston, South Carolina, would certainly be one place to visit.  It’s history, however, covers more than slavery and the Civil War.  Charleston is the oldest city in South Carolina and it has played a key role in the history of our country from colonial America and the Revolutionary War right up to the present.  It’s location on the coast gives it a mild climate as evidenced by the palm trees that line many of its streets.  Travel magazines often list it as one of the most hospitable cities in the country.  If you like history and photography, this is a great place to visit.  These photos were taken on a short visit in early November 2014, which is described in The streets of Charleston.
